Boutwell Chiropractic and Thigpen Chiropractic Announce Merger

After serving the Augusta community for decades, Boutwell Chiropractic is entering a new chapter—and for many patients, it may feel surprisingly familiar.

Effective July 6, 2026, Boutwell Chiropractic will become part of Thigpen Chiropractic, bringing together two practices and five chiropractors that have shared a commitment to patient-centered care, Atlas Orthogonal chiropractic, and serving the Augusta community for many years.

While the announcement marks an exciting new beginning, the story behind it actually began over two decades ago.

Twenty-one years ago, Dr. Beau Thigpen joined Boutwell Chiropractic as a young doctor eager to learn, grow, and serve patients. Over the years, he built lasting relationships with patients, worked alongside respected mentors, and developed a deep appreciation for the values that made Boutwell Chiropractic such a trusted name in Augusta.

As Drs. Darrell and Randall Boutwell began thinking about the future of their practice, one thing was clear: finding the right fit mattered.

This wasn’t simply about merging practices. It was about finding a practice that shared their commitment to patient care, clinical excellence, and the relationships they had built with patients over the years and could continue to do so.

“We wanted to ensure our patients would continue receiving the same level of care, attention, and respect they’ve come to expect,” said the Boutwell team. “Finding a practice that shared our values was incredibly important and we are thrilled to continue to serving our patients at Thigpen Chiropractic.”

For the Boutwells, Thigpen Chiropractic stood out for several reasons.

First, there was already a foundation of trust. They had worked alongside Dr. Thigpen for years and knew firsthand the doctor, leader, and person he had become and Dr. Thigpen had also helped train Dr. Parker while in school. 

Second, both practices share a passion for Atlas Orthogonal and Upper Cervical chiropractic care. For years, the Boutwell doctors have witnessed the importance of precise upper cervical care and its role in helping patients achieve better health and function. Seeing that same commitment continue through Thigpen Chiropractic gave them confidence that their patients would remain in good hands.

Most importantly, both practices have always believed that healthcare should be personal.

For current patients, that philosophy remains unchanged.

Patients will continue seeing familiar providers, familiar faces, and receiving the same patient-focused care they’ve come to trust. Medical records will transfer seamlessly, scheduled appointments will continue as planned, and patients will now have access to an expanded team of providers, additional services, and greater scheduling flexibility.

The combined practice will include Dr. Darrell Boutwell, Dr. Randall Boutwell, Dr. Beau Thigpen, Dr. Galen Parker, Dr. Dakota Reese, Chip Fischofer, and Ansley Gibson, creating one of the most experienced chiropractic teams in the Augusta area.

For Dr. Thigpen, the transition represents more than growth—it represents stewardship.

“It’s an honor to continue the legacy that the Boutwell family has built,” said Dr. Thigpen. “This practice played a significant role in my professional journey, and we’re committed to preserving what patients have always loved about Boutwell Chiropractic while continuing to expand the ways we can serve them.”

As healthcare continues to evolve, both teams believe this transition positions them to better meet the needs of patients throughout Augusta for years to come.
